Sacraments

As a community of faith, we celebrate God’s goodness to us at various points in our lives and in a special way in the Sacraments.

INITIATION:

BAPTISM – In Baptism, we are welcomed into the church and become active in the community of faith. When a baby is baptized, the parents and godparents make a commitment on behalf of their child or godchild to live a life rooted in the catholic faith and to share this faith with the child. To find out more, contact the Parish Office at 760 753-6254. (read more)

CONFIRMATION – Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, we are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. For more information on how to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, contact Isaac Deken at 760 753-3679. (read more)

HEALING:

SACRAMENT of RECONCILIATION - In this sacrament we celebrate Gods love and mercy for us when we formally confess our sins and seek to turn away from them.  A private celebration of this Sacrament may be arranged by appointment by calling 760 753-6254. Weekly celebrations of the Sacrament of Reconciliation are Saturdays from 3:30pm - 4:30pm and from 6:00pm – 7:00pm.

ANOINTING of the SICK -  is a celebration of belonging to God and his family, appropriate for all seriously ill. It is a sacrament of healing, forgiveness, and belonging, now and forever. Please call the Parish Office, 760 753-6254, to request this Sacrament for yourself or anyone who is seriously ill.

VOCATION:

HOLY ORDERS – is the Sacrament of which, some are called and freely respond, to serve the needs of the community of faith, as priests and deacons. If you feel you are called to ordained ministry, you may either speak to one of the parish clergy or contact the Vocations Director of the Diocese directly.

MATRIMONY – The Sacrament of Marriage is where a man and a woman freely commit to love each other in the manner of Christ, and whose love is open to children. Saint John is happy to assist couples in their preparation for marriage. For more information, please contact the Parish Office at 760 753-6254.
