CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORLD

Grades K-5 –  9:00 am  Sunday Mass
Dismissal for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word takes place during the Sunday 9:00 am Mass. All children in grades K-5 are encouraged to attend. Pre-Schoolers do not participate in this Liturgy of the Word.

After the Opening prayer, the celebrant will call the children forward for dismissal. They will gather at the base of the altar and then process out to the parish hall with their leader. The children will return to the church during the Preparation of the Gifts. They will celebrate the same Liturgy of the Word that is being celebrated in the church but will use the Children’s Lectionary rather than the standard adult version. It will include the First Reading, Gospel Acclamation, Gospel Reading, a special children’s interactive teaching of the gospel story, children’s version of the Creed, and Prayers of the Faithful. The Children’s Lectionary is approved by the United States Catholic Bishops.

We encourage all elementary age school children to attend this special portion of the liturgy adapted to their age level. There is not a registration fee for this program and attendance is not taken. Parents are welcome to attend with their children and help with supervision.

We are always in need of volunteers. Presently we have three teams that rotate every third Sunday. We would love to add a fourth team so that only a monthly commitment would be needed. Please call the Religious Ed Office at (760) 436-0664 if you can help us provide this special opportunity for our parish children.
